I used to use MacDraw and ClarisDraw, and sorely missed them when they disappeared from Apples horizon. Layer controls are very intuitive, however, and facilitate easy construction of complex images that can readily be transferred to photoshop layer-by-layer if necessary. The preferences and number of ways to achieve your goals are tremendous, even if a bit complex. For me, EazyDraw far outpaces illustrator or canvas in terms of speed, simplicity and control of elements. A better recommendation can hardly be made. Bottom-line is that one of my colleagues bought a Mac after watching me use EazyDraw. Object selection via the cursor could be more accurate, particularly when using shift-click. Free Digital Painting Software FireAlpaca Many cool methods exist, but they are are often difficult to find. The interface is unlike other applications. Once the interface is learned, this application rapidly becomes the only vector-based drawing program you need. The strength of this drawing program lies in its very powerful, but easy use of tools. Then there are other options you can purchase - boxed copies, examples, videos, separately or in combinations. You can get a free demo version that limits the number of objects. The older version 3's are really for Snow Leopard and don't have Lion feature support. The App Store confuses what is otherwise EazyDraw's really flexible pricing options. I hesitate to purchase and test Eazydraw because of the unclear and odd pricing policy. Aside from non English languages support in version s 4, I see no difference between 4 and 3. Since the iWork applications and EazyDraw are founded on the Cocoa technology, EazyDraw works as a full fledged team player, finishing out the Dream Workflow of the future. In response to this trend, EazyDraw now offers a full import of AppleWorks 6 drawings. Many users migrating to iWork have found EazyDraw to be the perfect solution for their drawing needs. These Apps do not provide a drawing application. Apple’s new proprietary workflow offering is the iWork suite. Brian Beaven Mac Draw and ClarisDraw Import Apple Works:Īpple has dropped support for AppleWorks, a great classic application whose time has passed. One of the features I like about Mac Draw is being able to set up the scaling on drawings e.g 5mm = 1m, and then use autosize lines to show the room dimensions on a drawing.ĭoes anyone know of a simple program that has these features? I’ve tried CAD programs like PowerDraw, but I prefer the simplicity of a drawing program. I know there are plenty of high-end drawing (and even CAD) programs out there, but what I’m after is something quite basic that I can use for drawing room layouts, floor plans, etc. As MacDraw is no longer available, can anyone suggest a suitable alternative? However I’d prefer to use an OSX native version if possible. I’ve copied the application across and it runs OK in Classic mode.

I have a lot of drawings (mainly building floor plans) that I did using MacDraw Pro that I want to display on my G4.

I have recently changed from an old 68k Mac to a G4. MacDraw was useful for drawing technical diagrams and Wikipedia MacDraw was one of the first WYSIWYG drawing programs that could be used in collaboration with MacWrite. MacDraw was a vector graphic drawing application released along with the first Apple Macintosh systems in 1984.
